Thought only JWs were doing the preaching work world wide?
by ducatijoe inas one of jehovah's witnesses for over 40 years, i was always taught that we were the only ones who went door to door, preached world wide, built our own buildings and so on.. however in the past year living in the south, not 1 jw has knocked on my door.
yet 4 various people from local churches have.. tonight i meet a young man who is preaching with a group in china (baptist) a block away i watched a congregation build their own church.. i could go on all night with the thing i have found to be un true with the org.. glad i'm out.

I always found it interesting that the LDS church preaches door to door as well but when I asked about that the witness brushed it off by saying "they only preach for two years while jehovahs witnesses preach thetheir whtheir whole lives. No retirement from being a good witness." Even when i brushed off things that made no sense, that explanation seemed like bullshit. -

What is the furtherest your car group traveled to a return visit that counted as time?
by adjusted knowledge ingrowing up i lived in the middle of florida in the southern part.
i had a friend whose father was an elder, and would stay at their homes during the weekends.
one of the "rules", as we all know jw love rules, was that who ever spent the night had to go out in field service on saturday.

the territory in one hall i attended encompassed parts of three states.we would drive from the hall which was centrally located to one end of the territory, about an hour and a half, then go all the way to the other end of the territory and then back home. Five or more hours, two calls, both of which were likely not home, total waste of time. -

Today's watchtower admits they appoint people who are sinners
by hoser infrom paragraph 12. one brother began viewing pornography at the age of 12, and he continued to do so in secret for over a decade.
he relates: it was very hard to admit to my wife and to the el- ders what id been doing.
but now that i have admitted it, i feel that a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.

I noticed that this morning. I was trying to determine if I could use this as an example of the double standard of the society. If we point out an appointed mans faults we are talking against god but if the appointed man is not living up to the societies standards he was appointed by imperfect men who were guided by the bibles standards. What a bunch of crap.

Window Peepers
by piztjw inso today one of the local elders came around to "check out how you are doing.".
i didn't really feel like putting up with the interrogation, or the false concern so i decided that i didn't "hear" the doorbell.
the guy decided he needed to circle my home and peek in the windows to see if i was home or not.

Elders only have the power that you give them. Next time they come by and look in your windows just wave and roll over going back to your nap. What can they do? They are the ones overstepping their bounds. If they ask you about it. Tell them it's your house and if they didn't want their "feelings hurt" by knowing they were being ignored stop looking in other peoples windows.

At ours in the final talk the special speaker told us to 'forget about science. Science is wrong and pointless. The bible and what is recorded in it are what's important'.

by Eustace inon another thread somebody wrote:.
i was df'd about a month ago and when it happened, i cried.
i'm not sure why, i certainly don't believe one crumb of what they teach anymore, and i had been inactive for two years.. .

My copy of Shepherd the Flock of God will not allow me to copy so I am typing what it says. Please forgive me for any typos.
Those Who Have Not Associated For Many Years
40. In deciding whether to form a judicial committee or not, the body of elders should consider the following:
* Does he still profess to be a Witness?
* Is He generally recognized as a Witness in the congregation or the community?
* Does his conduct continue to affect any other person, such as in some cases of adultery or child abuse?
* Does the person have a measure of contact or association with the congregation so that a leavening or corruption influence exists?
* is the person willing to meet with a committee , thus admitting accountability to the Christian congregation?
41. Depending upon length of inactivity and other factors suggested above, elders may determine to hold the matter in abeyance. In such a case
They would make a record of the person's questionable conduct for the congregation file. When the individual again shows interest in
returning to the congregation, they can clarify these matters.
So basically if you have friends or relatives for example an ex wife who want to make issues of things it might prompt the elders to pursue you even if you have faded. On the other hand I have seen many who just go about their lives after leaving and they are not bothered by the elder body even if after a number of years are openly observing holidays and birthdays, voting or even holding elected office.
I did find this point of special interest ' is the person willing to meet with a committee , thus admitting accountability to the Christian congregation?' so perhaps if you are inactive and have had no contact with the congregation for a long period of time refusing to meet with any elders is the best call.

The New Diary of Winston Smith
by WinstonSmith inwe had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.
fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.
i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

Just read your post and I have to say I am amazed at how closely our stories resemble each other. I too was once an elder saw the garbage that went on and eventually stepped down. When I was assigned the #3 talk on earthquakes i figured that the reasoning book was so outdated that if I did a little research i could give a better talk. My research ended with JWFacts. While I never really accepted the whole religion and God concept, I saw no harm in the Witnesses. I was surprised at how much they twist and lie. I look forward to hearing more of your experiences.

i know that the watchtower is notorious for misquoting authorities in an effort to disprove evolution and give support to their version of creation.

I know that the Watchtower is notorious for misquoting authorities in an effort to disprove evolution and give support to their version of creation. While researching the subject on this board there were several mentions of a law suit being brought against them by one of those sources but no one ever provided any specifics. Do any of you know if that really happened and if so do you have any details about the case?

Any suggestions for a 'quick' tour of Yellowstone National Park??
by AudeSapere in.
i know the park is huge and i won't have much time there, but in a couple of weeks i will have a day or a day and a half to explore this part of the country.. i will be busy at big sky resort for a few days and leaving from bozeman on tuesday.
that leaves all day monday and possibly part of sunday to explore.. does anyone have any suggestions for maximizing my free time in yellowstone?

We go at least twice a year and while the southern parts of the park have some very interesting thermal areas, paint pots, hot springs and geysers, if you want fewer people, incredible landscape and abundant wildlife, the northern part is where to go. Coming from Montana puts you right there as well. If you have a day and a half you would also have time to make it to Old Faithful if you have never been there.
